I'm Trying To Be Like Jesus

I am working on reviewing songs for the first two Sundays of this month (see previous post), so I will not be teaching "I'm Trying to Be Like Jesus," until Week 3. However, I want to remind Singing Time choristers that the primary manual has some great suggestions this month for how to teach this song, if you want to go ahead and teach it this Sunday.

This takes little advance preparation time, too:

  1. I introduced "I'm trying to be like Jesus" by telling them that there is a singer that I really enjoy because I like his music and because he tries very hard to do what is right and is serving a mission. A couple of the kids guessed who it was. Then I downloaded this video and played it for the kids. I had their attention.

    1. how funny, I did the same exact thing. I just love how he sang the song with such feeling. The only thing I didn't plan on, was that the wifi at the church blocked every site I intended to use to show them his performance. I ended up showing them on my iPhone (I only have 7 children in my primary right now)

  2. What a lovely idea to blend current culture with the gospel! Thank you so much for sharing.
